Bailey Spreads Puppy Love Throughout The Patriot, A Choice Community

According to an old adage: “a true friend leaves paw prints on your heart.”

While that quote is attributed to anonymous, it could have very well been said many times by staff and residents of The Patriot, a Choice Community, in describing their four-legged, furry friend Bailey.

Bailey, a five-month-old Goldendoodle puppy, has been a regular at the Somerset care facility this year since being adopted by Cody Armstrong, Personal Care Administrator.

“She’s like a local celebrity,” says Armstrong. “As soon as she walks in the front door, you can hear residents and staff calling her. Some of the residents even have treats for her that they keep in their rooms for when she comes to visit.”

The Patriot offers a 100-bed skilled nursing and rehabilitation center, a 68-bed Personal Care home and Continuing Care Retirement Community with independent apartment style accommodations – and one special dog.

Michelle Younkin, Marketing and Admissions Director, calls Bailey: “our Chief Morale Officer. You can’t help but smile when you see her. She really makes people feel good just by her presence.”

Throughout the day, Bailey’s visits have become a highlight at the facility.

Armstrong adds: “It's really wonderful watching the residents light up as soon as they see her. She’s making a huge difference, but to her it’s just another day at work.”
